WAKE UP! manifesto

WAKE UP! AN EXCHANGE PROJECT BETWEEN NEW YORK UNIVERSITY, USA, AND TOKYO GEIJUTSU DAIGAKU (TOKYO NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF FINE ARTS AND MUSIC), TOKYO, J

The art project, "WAKE UP!" intends to strengthen the relationship between art students of NYU and Geidai University by bringing out a collective consciousness. Based upon the idea that every artwork is potentially politically charged, "WAKE UP!" challenges the art students to reflect upon their countries' social, cultural, political, economic and/or religious conscience.

The format: Every participant both at NYU and Geidai would write a message, draw, paint, collage, scratch, tag, or color on 8x10(11) inches Xerox paper, based on the conceptual framework of “WAKE UP.”

The accumulation of these works will be shown both at NYU and Geidai on the date to be announced in 2007.
